Weekend Recap

Sunday night comes around much too quickly if you ask me. We had a very nice weekend—all the more reason to be disappointed that it’s over. Now for the highlights...

  • Had a crazy busy day at work, but the silver lining was that the day flew by.
  • Had dinner with Sean’s family because his mom and youngest brother were leaving for trips the next day (Costa Rica and Ireland, respectively).
  • Went with some friends to see G.B. Leighton (a great locally based band) play. Since Sean had to work early Saturday morning, he stayed home and I went with some girlfriends. I stayed out till after 1:00 in the morning; it’s been a long time since I’ve done that! We had a great time!

{Some of my very best friends (at the GB Leighton show)! Can you tell which one of us has been lucky enough to escape this never-ending winter with a recent tropical vacation?}
  • Caught up on some DVR’d shows in my PJs.
  • Cleaned the house.
  • Hung out with Sean and one of his coworkers who stopped by to have leftover pork sandwiches for lunch.
  • Went to the mall. The downside of the Mall of America being one of the closest malls is that it takes 20+ minutes to find a parking spot on a wintery Saturday afternoon. The plus side? Almost every store I could ask for! Got a few cute things for an upcoming trip I’m taking.
  • Grocery shopped (and ran into an old coworker/friend who worked with Sean and I at the child care center where we first met. So great to catch up with her!)
  • Went to mass with my mom.
  • Had a mini-date with Sean—a quick dinner and a movie. We saw Hall Pass. It was pretty funny; a bit raunchy at times, but entertaining (and had quite a few points where I found myself saying, “THAT IS SO TRUE!”).
{Via Old Navy. One of the outfits I got this weekend.}
  • A blissfully lazy day. I’m usually one to go-go-go and feel like I should always be out doing something. Not today. Sean and I (and the puppy of course) lounged on the couch watching TV and movies all morning. The Goonies was on—one of my favorites—and Sean has never seen it. We started watching it but then…
  • We fell asleep. I rarely take naps, but today I fell asleep on the couch for almost 2 hours. It felt wonderful—I think my body really needed it!
  • Laundry day!
  • Went to a local Borders bookstore that is going out of business to scan the closeout inventory. I looked at quite a bit, but for most things I decided to wait until they get discounted a little more. I did get a book for the aforementioned trip and Sean got a Green Bay Packers Super Bowl magazine.
  • Made dinner (tried out a new recipe, more on that tomorrow).
  • And I didn’t put makeup on all day! I’m getting to the point where I’m a little self conscious to go anywhere but the gym without makeup on (a bit vain, I admit, but it’s usually not a pretty sight). So this was a nice break for me.

Now it’s back to the grind tomorrow. How was your weekend?

  1. That sounds like a great weekend! Similar in theme to mine: relaxation and spending time with friends and our boys :)

    I love Mall of America--my grandparents live in the Twin Cities and we always used to go there when we'd visit. My favorite part was the theme park inside. We always rode the roller coaster and log jammer rides in there!

  2. HEY!! That's me you are talking about!! :D I'm SO glad you have a blog... I have a lot of reading to catch up on! It was great to see you too- As the weather warms up, we would love to have you and your MR. over for some drinks! ;) <3
