Turning the tables

A couple of years ago, we went to Sean's aunt and uncle's house for lunch. They live a little less than an hour from us, which isn't too far, but for us "city kids" it's a bit like going to the country.

So what do city kids do when left alone with a large field and a riding lawn mower? Why, pull grandpa in it of course!

If you think about what this scene would have looked like when the boys were little, it probably would have been quite the opposite. You typically don't find the adult (or the elder in this case, since they're all adults) in the trailer of a riding lawn mower. The women were less than keen on the idea but those boys sure were having fun. And thankfully it was all in good fun.

No grandpas were harmed in the making of these photos.

So while it was a risky decision, it still brings a smile to my face when I watch Sean's brother and grandpa frolicking through the field on a warm may afternoon, acting like kids all over again. We should probably all do this once in a while!

Happy Friday friends!

  1. I love these photos! Getting to drive the tractor was a rite of passage in our family: once a grandchild turned 9 years old that summer they could cut the grass for Papa. We have lots of pictures of each of the 17 grandkids taking their turn behind the wheel over the years :)

    Have a great weekend!

  2. It sure looks like grandpa and grandson are enjoying themselves!! Love it!

  3. What adorable pictures! These are something they'll all cherish - and you have such a talent with the camera!
